Hi! I’m
Jon Geense.

(Pronounced like “jeans”—as in blue jeans!)

Your financial life is different. Your financial advice should be, too.

Foreign Service life doesn’t fit neatly into a standard financial plan. PCS moves, changing budgets, rental properties, federal benefits and unexpected career transitions can make it hard to know whether you’re making the right financial decisions.

You shouldn’t have to figure it all out on your own.

Geense Financial helps members of the Foreign Service community make sense of their finances and move forward with confidence, whether they’re preparing for another overseas assignment or navigating an unexpected career transition. Get affordable, experienced financial guidance from someone who understands your world and meets you wherever you are in your financial journey.

About Jon / Geense Financial

Built from lived experience.

The Foreign Service community deserves financial advice from someone who understands their world. My firm will aim to simplify the complex decisions that come with constant transition so you can build lasting wealth with confidence.

Affordable financial planning for the Foreign Service community and those navigating life beyond it.

I’m Jon. I’m an EFM, former CLO, CFP® candidate, and longtime member of the Foreign Service community. Our family has served in Jordan, Georgia, Moldova, and Sri Lanka with USAID and State. I’ve lived the challenges of Foreign Service life, and I know what it feels like when that life is suddenly thrown into uncertainty. I resigned from my CLO position to pivot toward a career more closely aligned with my values.

I’m building Geense Financial to offer affordable financial planning for Foreign Service families and others navigating international careers or unexpected career transitions. My firm will be grounded in a fiduciary commitment to put clients’ needs first.
